To Swim – It Could Save Your Life! |
1. |
Never Swim Alone |
|
2. |
Never leave your child unsupervised in or near a
swimming pool, hot tub, or any water, not even for a second. |
3. |
No glass containers around the pool. |
4. |
Swim only in clear water and head for cover when
a storm threatens. |
5. |
No running or horseplay. |
6. |
Keep electrical appliances away from the pool. |
7.
|
Don’t jump in to save someone;
throw something to them for assistance. |
8. |
Learn your local emergency numbers. |
9.
|
No
diving in shallow water. |
10.
|
Don’t allow barriers, such as
fences or walls, to give you a false sense of security
regarding your child’s safety. There is no substitute
for supervision! |
11. |
Keep toys, tricycles, and other children’s
playthings away from the pool, spa or water. |
12.
|
Don’t consider your children to be “drown-proof”
because you enrolled them in “waterproofing”
or swimming classes. |
13.
|
Don’t rely on “water-wings”
or inflatable devices to keep your child afloat. They
are no substitute for supervision. |
14.
|
Your pool or spa should always have
well-maintained barriers or “layers of safety.”
Make sure your pool or spa has effective barriers
– (fence/wall/latched doors/covers/alarms) –
that guard against unauthorized access. |
15. |
Always drain standing (surface) water off the pool
or spa cover. |
16. |
Learn how to administer lifesaving techniques
to children, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation
(CPR). |
17. |
Install
a phone, or keep a cordless phone, in the pool or
spa area. |
18.
