JUMP IN, THE WATER IS WARM AND WE ARE HERE TO HELP!

Learning to swim is a defining and memorable experience in your child's life. Our passionate team of teachers are here to make sure it is a wonderfully positive experience for all. Through our warm water and passionate team of Instructors, we are committed to teaching all our swimmers to love and respect the water.

icon-1 WHEN TO SIGN UP

There are no registration deadlines for the Saf-T-Swim Swim School system. Students who are registered for lessons can sign up and join lessons at any time, subject to available capacity and the number of requested lessons, as solely determined by the Saf-T-Swim Swim School location for which they have been registered. We recommend year-round swimming; consistency and frequency are important to building strong independent swimmers. All our families are required to review and agree to our Saf-T-Swim School Policies. This is completed upon registration and must be signed prior to your swimmer entering the water.

clock-regular ARRIVING YOUR FIRST DAY

Timeliness
Please make sure your student is on time for lessons. Lessons begin and end at very specific times. If enrollment paperwork is signed prior to the first lesson, arrive 15 mins early so your student has time to stop by the bathroom, get changed and get his/her equipment ready before the lesson begins. If you have not yet completed enrollment paperwork, arrive 25 mins early. After paperwork is complete, a team member will provide direction on where to go for lessons.

Changing Areas, Restrooms, and Locker Rooms
Private changing rooms are for children five (5) years and younger. For older children, please use a family changing room. Locks left on lockers overnight will be cut off and the locker's contents will be bagged and placed in the lost and found.

suitcase-rolling-solid WHAT TO BRING TO LESSONS

Goggles
If your child’s a new swimmer, we ask that you try not to send them in with goggles as we need to make sure they are water safe without goggles first. Unless otherwise directed by their respective instructors, all students should wear a pair of goggles at every class. Although we do not offer loaner goggles, goggles are available for purchase at your local Saf-T-Swim Swim Shop.

Swimsuits
All students must wear appropriate swimwear.

Swim Diaper Policy
Students under the age of four (4) who are not fully potty-trained must wear TWO CLOTH reusable (non-disposable) swim diapers. Reusable diapers have a tighter fit, which helps to minimize the possibility of accidents in a pool. Disposable diapers are NOT permitted. A swimsuit or a pair of shorts should be worn over the diaper. Even a small accident in the pool can result in a pool closure which could last as long as 24 hrs. Children 4+ years who ARE NOT toilet trained are REQUIRED to wear ONE CLOTH reusable swim diaper. If in doubt, please do not take the chance. Reusable (non-disposable) swim diapers are available for purchase at your local Saf-T-Swim Swim Shop.

Swim caps
Any students who have hair long enough to get in their eyes, face, or mouth might be required by their Saf-T-Swim Swim School to wear a swim cap in order to enhance their comfort. Swim caps are available for purchase at your local Saf-T-Swim Swim Shop.

Towels
Students must bring their own towels. Towels are not provided by the Saf-T-Swim Swim School.

Believe it or not, this is a positive sign of a baby’s healthy development:

• It generally begins between 6-18 mos. At this time your child realizes you leave but does not understand that you are coming back.

• It may last several weeks or even months until your child realizes you are not abandoning them.

• Your baby’s overwhelming desire to be close to you serves a crucial purpose. Experts agree that this behavior is based on your child’s ability to form personal relationships throughout their lifetime

“You don’t have to be tethered to your infant until he/she gives you permission to go.” - PhD Lela Beckwith, Prof. Of Pediatrics at Univ. Of California

Let your child know that it’s ok to feel nervous. Be honest and let them know where you are going and that you will return.

eye-regular WHERE TO WATCH YOUR CHILD'S LESSON

Please remain at the Saf-T-Swim Swim School facility for the entire duration of your student’s lessons. If the lessons are conducted in a dedicated Saf-T-Swim Swim School facility, please watch your student from the viewing area located in the lobby of the facility unless otherwise requested by the student’s instructor. If the lessons are conducted in a facility that hosts the Saf-T-Swim Swim School (e.g., a fitness club or other third-party facility), please watch your student from the pool deck. In either case, our goal is to give each student the best learning experience possible, so please refrain from interrupting your student’s lesson. You may use the last five minutes of your child's lesson to talk with your instructor. Please be courteous that this does not run into someone’s scheduled swim time.

Olympic-Level Technology icon PROGRESS UPDATES

In the first lesson the instructor will assess the student's capabilities and determine their starting swim level. At the end of every class the instructor will call you in 2-3 minutes before the class is over. During this time, they will review everything that the student has accomplished in the lesson and what they should expect for future lessons. We encourage parents to be knowledgeable about what the child is learning every week. During these conversations you can discuss any questions or concerns you have about your child’s progress or abilities. Your instructor will indicate whether your swimmer is ready for their next level.

Level Up
Your instructor will let you know the prior week that your child is ready to LEVEL UP. To celebrate this accomplishment, your child will ring the bell where you can snap photos and cheer them on. You are welcome to submit your child's level up accomplishment to be featured at your Saf-T-Swim location and social media by visiting www.saf-t-swim.com/level-up.
